virtual contraption building website is amazingly addictive fun

i read about fantastic contraption through a headline that said "click here and immediately lose two hours of your day" - always one for a challenge, i proved them wrong. i'm currently on hour twelve.

the site works as a virtual workspace that lets you design a variety of devices with a few simple tools and an excellent physics engine. the general idea is to move an object from one space to another. each level has a variety of obstacles, and that's where your ingenuity comes in handy.

many players don't just move from one level to the next, they stick around and try to solve each one with a variety of methods. the amount of incredible work that's already been done with this is staggering: walkers, catapults, climbers, bulldozers and more. but give a few levels your best before looking at what others have done -- it's most satisfying when you figure it out on your own.
